Safety & Training Specialist

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 8th largest electric cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Safety and Training Specialist in the Human Resources, Safety and Training department.  Keystone Heights is centrally located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.

Primary responsibilities include providing direct training to trainees in a classroom and/or field environment on technical job skills associated with construction and maintenance of Cooperative power lines, equipment and facilities under the direction of the Safety/ Training Manager. Responsibilities also include promoting increased safety consciousness and improvements in quality of work performed through field observations and meetings on a regularly scheduled basis.

Essential job functions include:

Maintaining Safety Documentation. Assists the Safety/Training Manager to maintain and evaluate system-wide safety activities documentation such as tailgate safety meetings, safety crew visits, monthly visual inspections of personal tools and protective equipment, daily vehicle/unit inspections and rubber glove testing records.

Performing Safety Inspections. Perform safety inspections of facilities, work sites and work activities to assure our compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Evaluating Safety Rules, Work Practices and Work Procedures. Assists the Safety/Training Manager to evaluate safety rules, safe work practices and work procedures.

Promoting Safety Consciousness. Promote increased safety consciousness and improved quality of work performed by our field and crew employees.

Lineman  Development  Training  Program Instruction. Provide instruction to and testing/assessment of Apprentices in the Lineman Development Program as well as pre-assessment of apprenticeship candidates. Provide feedback to the Safety/Training Manager on the effectiveness of the overall program. Assist the Safety/Training Manager in updating the program instruction/material as needed.

Promoting Safety. Practice and promote safety on a frequent basis, assure that we receive proper documentation from all departments for safety activities and stay abreast of and assure enforcement of the Cooperative Safety Manual, all while being held accountable for his/her own and Clay Electric employees’ safety performance.

This position requires high school graduation or successful completion of a Florida GED plus specific additional training consisting of completion of courses in the electrical field including successful graduation from Clay Electric's Lineman Development Training Program or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in the construction/maintenance of transmission and distribution systems with an electric distribution utility, of which at least three (3) years must have been as a Lineman or an equivalent technician level position or higher.

This position requires a valid Florida Class A non-restricted commercial driver's license.

Apprentice Meter Technician

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Apprentice Meter Technician. This position requires a two (2) year Associate of Science degree in electronics from an accredited college or university with course work in microprocessor based systems, or equivalent training from a technical institution. This position also requires two (2) years of experience in a closely related field. Additional related experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on a year for year basis. Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform basic technical work required in connection with the installation, maintenance, operation, testing and service of all types of electric meters and other related equipment. Primary responsibility includes assisting and installing, testing, repairing, calibrating and performing maintenance on electric meters and related equipment.

Essential job functions of this position include:

Meters & Power Quality. Assist in installing, testing, repairing, calibrating and performing maintenance on all types of electric meters and other related equipment. Assist in installing recording instruments for power quality investigations and the submittal process to engineering.

Meter/AMI Software & Tools. Be proficient in the use of laptop and personal computers. Gain a working knowledge of MV90 software, AMI meter testing tools and software,  and become familiar with manufacturers’ software for programming of solid state meters.

Records & Reports. Submit and record material and retirement information in accordance with established procedures, to include change outs for load increases and defective material or equipment. Assist in coordinating planned outages with members and district offices for metering equipment change outs and maintenance projects. Assist in maintaining the necessary records and periodic reports required for proper control of all electric meters and related equipment maintenance programs.

Electronic Technician

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Electronic Technician.  This position requires a two (2) year Associate of Science degree in the electronics field plus four (4) years of related Electronic Technician experience. Additional related experience may be substituted for education requirements on a year for year basis.

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform technical work rendering prompt, efficient and reliable repair service to all communications and electronic equipment within the Cooperative. Primary responsibilities include installing and testing all new communications equipment that may be used between employees or between employees and members for communication purposes. Work also includes helping with the training of all employees in the proper use of vehicle radios, base station radios, decoders, pagers and other radio equipment.

Essential job functions include:

Circuit Boards. Troubleshoot, analyze and repair electronic imprinted circuit boards. Repair electronic cards and panels as needed.
Install Equipment. Install and program telephones, SACDA RTU”s and associated equipment, 960 MAS, microwave and all associated communications equipment, radios, repeaters, data radios, supervisory control, and radio base stations.
System Maintenance. Perform maintenance to telephones, SCADA, metering equipment, and Load Management equipment including 960 MAS, microwave, and all associated communications equipment and batteries. Install, repair and maintain all two-way radios, pagers, repeaters, data radios and cameras. Check and repair, if necessary, supervisory control and radio base stations. Troubleshoot WAN router and associated equipment.
AMI Equipment. Assist in the set up and installation of AMI communications equipment.  Support AMI operations, as needed,   to ensure the communications system is functional and reliable.

Lineman

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lineman.  This position requires a high school certificate or State of Florida GED passing grade plus additional training equivalent to Clay Electric's Lineman Development Training Program and four (4) years of experience in an electric distribution utility, preferably through the progression of Apprentice line work. This position also requires a valid Florida Class A commercial driver's license or a Florida Class A restricted commercial driver's license.

Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform the most advanced and skilled work required in connection with the construction, maintenance, operations and service of transmission, overhead and underground distribution lines, protective equipment, substations and related equipment owned and operated by the Cooperative.

Essential job functions include:

Construction and Maintenance of Power Lines. Install, remove, inspect and maintain both overhead and underground lines and equipment.
Switching Operations. Perform switching operations on energized and de-energized lines and equipment, utilizing the Electric Systems Control Manual, UAI system and all safety precautions.
Troubleshooting and Outage Restoration. Working independently or with others, systematically perform all duties associated with troubleshooting lines and equipment to restore electric service.
Operation of Equipment. Operate construction equipment such as line truck, bucket truck, trenchers and other equipment as required. Comply with all traffic laws and related safety rules and safe work practices.

ICT Specialist

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of ICT Specialist. Initial responsibilities will include cross-training for rapid familiarization with the broad range of all of CEC's ICT systems and infrastructure with escalating responsibility for design, development, implementation and support of complex ICT solutions.

Essential job functions of this position include:
Increasing Productivity and Member Satisfaction. Look for and take opportunities to communicate with other employees on ways to take advantage of information and communication technology to increase productivity and/or member satisfaction. 
Systems and Solutions Supported. Work in the various areas within ICT to become familiar with the systems and solutions supported. Document existing systems and work processes to in support of the ICT Department's efforts to prepare for employee succession.
Research. Research important work processes at CEC looking for opportunities to leverage technology to significantly improve productivity or Member satisfaction.
ICT-based Solutions. Proactively develop, implement and support complex ICT-based solutions of high value to the Cooperative and its Members. 
Technology/Improvement Opportunities. Stay current on the state of technology and identify opportunities to improve work processes and productivity.
ICT Projects. Handle the planning, design and implementation of minor information and communication technology projects and provide support for major ICT projects.
Technical Support
. Strive to establish and maintain good communications and to provide technical support to other employees throughout the cooperative.
Response Availability
. Respond to critical system down situations on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.

This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in information or networking technology, plus two (2) years of related experience.  Related experience may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis.

Associate Developer

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Developer. Individuals in this position are responsible for creating and supporting applications and interfaces in support of CEC systems and services. This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Business or a related field, plus three years of development experience using an object oriented language and one year of .NET development experience in a Microsoft stack. Individuals in this position must also maintain a valid State of Florida drivers’ license.

Essential job functions include identifying improvements and updates for current solutions; Creating new interfaces for or integrating with existing interfaces of CEC systems; Developing specifications for new applications based on requirements; Deploying applications’ solutions to testing and production environments;  Creating systems requirements for productions application environments; and peer review code and providing feedback.

Engineer – Substation Division

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer in the Substation division of the Engineering department. This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering plus two and one half (2 ½) years of related experience. Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver’s license. Experience in the following areas of substation engineering within an electric utility is also preferred: developing substation drawings and schematics, SEL protective relays and communication processors, designing protective relay schemes, physical substation layout design, material/equipment specifications, and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
