Coronavirus Statement: Lobbies closed, disconnections suspended

Clay Electric is focused on the health and well-being of our members, employees and the communities we serve. Our management team is working to address increasing concerns and mitigate the impact of the coronavirus on our co-op and our communities. Our plan places the highest value on the safety of our employees and members.

Clay Electric is committed to providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity and is continuing to be proactive with coronavirus by:

  • Closing Clay Electric district office lobbies to the public, effective March 19. We encourage members to take advantage of phone, website, drive-thru and alternative payment methods.
  • Suspending all business travel, all large meetings and large training sessions; suspending employee attendance to work-related community events with large crowds; and implementing flexible schedules internally where feasible.
  • Helping members who may be experiencing difficulty by suspending disconnections on past-due accounts, effective March 17 until further notice. We encourage members to continue paying toward their bill if they are able to do so. Current amounts due and future electric charges will still be owed. Members can receive payment assistance at the locations listed on our website.

Clay Electric is always a 24-hour operation with employees on-site and on-call. We will remain available by phone and email and stand ready to respond to any power outages.

We want members to know we take the coronavirus disease pandemic seriously. We are actively monitoring the coronavirus updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and will continue to respond based on the best advice of governments, public health authorities and medical professionals.
