Clay Electric personnel continues efforts Wednesday evening, July 7, to restore service to members who were impacted by Tropical Storm Elsa. As of 8 p.m., 1,836 members remained without power.
Crews spent the day dealing with trees and other debris the storm blew into distribution equipment or onto roadways and other points of access. Many counties were already very wet due to record rainfall in June, and the additional rain brought by Tropical Storm Elsa caused localized flooding, which impacted crews’ ability to easily access areas that were damaged.
Members are reminded to never touch downed power lines, and always assume lines are energized. Emergencies should be reported to 911.
The best way to report outages is to use the MyClayElectric web portal or mobile app. With the app, it is likely we already know about your outage; you can check this by scrolling to the bottom of the screen and looking at My Services Overview.
